Well, it's been a while since I updated - luckily only a couple of months this time. To make matters even better, I actually have been writing in the interrim.

But let's see how I've fared in my writing-related goals thus far, shall we?

Become a better writer.
- start the "Artist's Way" course again - Nope! Fell off the wagon there.
- write/edit every day (500 words or 30 minutes, whichever comes first) - Nope! Definitely not hitting any kind of consistency yet.
- spend time researching markets once per month (duotrope, etc); compile a personal list - Haven't done this, but I am feeling inspired by an SF piece I've been working on.
- complete one short story every month (minimum) - Success! Well, almost - I have two complete, and one in the works.
- submit any available short stories once per month - None available, so this isn't applicable yet. Soon, though...

GOALS:
- Complete current Blue Goo edits by August '09 - Not on track for this - Blue Goo needs some TLC!
- Complete final Blue Goo edit and submit by December '09 - Ditto.
- write 15+ short stories by August '10 - Am definitely on track for this, especially if I keep up with [livejournal.com profile] tamingthemuse.

Write more scripts.
- complete page count for Script Frenzy by end of June '09 - Failed. Will scale back this goal - I will finish my one unfinished short play, and give them all a round of editing by end of July.
- edit Script Frenzy stuff by end of November '09 - Deleting this one en lieu of the above change.
- submit plays for local theatre groups late '09 and early '10 - Still on track for this.
- work on outline and/or brainstorm for SW movie project once per week - Have done this a couple of times, but not regularly.
- write Ep I for Script Frenzy '10 - Not on track for this, need to make time for it.

GOALS:
- Have one completed movie script by August '10 - Working on this - see above.
- Submit at least one theatre script by December '09 - Doing decently on this.

Read more (short fiction, novels/non-fic, academic)
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I have apparently forgotten how to read. I have, however, been reading and critiquing shorts, so I'm probably not as far behind as I feel like I am. Still - PUBLISHED works need to be part of my fiction diet. A much bigger part.

If I was grading myself, I'd probably be generous to award a 4/10. Given that I went into it with a 0/10 average, I'm not too disappointed. Still - lots of room for improvement.

I'd like for my goals to be more simple, and to revisit them often so that I can make adjustments as necessary. I'm also pretty busy this summer, so "writing every single day" doesn't necessarily make sense. With that in mind, here are my short-term goals:

JULY

- Write a short story every week for the [livejournal.com profile] tamingthemuse prompt.
- Write a 15 minute flash piece every week for [livejournal.com profile] 15_minute_fic.
- Finish my lingering short play.
- Edit the short plays I wrote earlier this year.

I'd like to start editing Blue Goo, too, but if I don't get started on this until August I will be in good shape.
