Walked uptown this morning after work and made myself comfortable at the The Infusion, a tea shop that [livejournal.com profile] eternalism discovered a little while back. I go with the intention just to get tea, but I usually wind up getting something else. Almost always something evil.

I did about an hour and a half of editing while I was there, though I spent enough minutes here and there talking to the lady who owns the shop that I'm only counting it as an hour. More groundwork, since I haven't printed out a copy of my novel yet. (Honestly, I don't think there's much point to it until I get the prose into a slightly more... readable state.) I'm feeling a lot better about my Random Aliens, the basics of their background and how they function. I've hit a point where everything is falling into place. Their motives make sense. Their technology makes sense. The ease the kids have in sneaking around their mothership makes sense.

What is up with this?! I must be doing SOMETHING wrong. But until I figure out what it is, I'm going to do a dance of glee and pray I can keep up the momentum.

I have some menial tasks to do at work tonight, so I think I'll get them out of the way early (for a change) and try to set aside an hour or two to keep hacking away at the early prose.

Heh. Since I may be getting up tomorrow at what most people call a "respectable time", I may just decide to pick up a notebook and pen and head over the The Infusion myself. Sit there with a nice hot cup of tea for a while, work on some stuff . . . Possibly work on a rough outline of what's going to happen in the Rhyn/Faewyn story, and then work out what's going to happen with and to Faewyn's reincarnation.

If I was smart, I'd come up with a chapter summary thingy for the current story, but since I spend half of my time writing it off the fly, I somehow think that fitting it all into rigid chapters like that would just cause it all to fall apart in a hopeless jumble on the floor. :/

Bah. I need a new fantasy world to work with. One that has yet to be tainted by my sinister touch. XD

I have to say, I've enjoyed doing writing work at the Infusion. The atmosphere there lends itself well to creativity, I think. (Must be the colour scheme. *laughs*) I don't think I'd be able to write prose there unless I had a laptop, though - my brain can't keep up with my hand for that kind of writing.

It probably couldn't hurt to come up with a rough outline, just a sort of "step by step" as to what events are going to happen in what order. That way you'd have a guide to work from, but it wouldn't be so rigid as a chapter-by-chapter outline, so you could take chunks of it and work on them as they move you.

Um, that should read, "My hand can't keep up with my brain".

Either way, all this talk about hands is getting me excited. X-D

I want to go to the Infusion now, but my mother has yet to call, so I have no idea what's going on with her, and I told her that I'd wait for her call in case she needed anything.

So instead of randomly writing out possibilities, I'm just continuing with the Rhyn and Faewyn stuff normally. Makes it easier on everyone. It's getting cute the way Faewyn seems to blush whenever Rhyn does anything. XD
