Whoops, did I say I'd update this on... what, Saturday? And now it's Sunday. It's the last day of my work week, and I am mildly bloated and ache-y. I think I will use a "Get out of jail free" card and update properly tomorrow.

Something I'll jot down as a reminder to myself, though: I need to remember that this edit of the SF kids novel doesn't need to be even close to a finished version. I don't need to worry about the overall pacing too much, or whether I need to edit in a new sequence of events HERE or THERE, or anything like that. What I need is to clean up what I have. Getting bogged down in the nitty-gritty is for LATER. For now: first solid draft.

Though I've been slack on the editing, I HAVE got my requisite weekly short-story critting done for Critique Circle. I love that place.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with some honey brown beer, a hot-water bottle, and a good book.

Keeping in mind that I'm not going to drive myself crazy with ideals, I figure I can get this thing into decent shape with, on average, about two hours per remaining chapter. There are (if I remember correctly) fourteen chapters. I'm done 6 1/2 of them.

So 7 1/2 times 2 hours... Fifteen hours. This is not an unreasonable amount of time, particularly if I spread it out over the next... what, 22 days?

I want to get into a habit of doing this, so I'm aiming for half an hour per day, with some extra time here and there, particularly on my weekend.

Speaking of which, mine is rapidly going away. I've been cleaning for the past few hours, so I think I'll edit for a bit as a break before I go back to it.

[Edit:] Half an hour of editing rewriting done. Now I'm going to clean for a bit and maybe come back to this chapter later tonight.
