Can I shoot myself yet?
Nov. 4th, 2004 11:25 amSo, remember that plot idea I was talking about last time? The one I'd abandoned my original novel idea in hopes of writing?
It flopped. Went belly-up.
So what am I writing now? Of all things, a novel I started in grade eight, about school kids and aliens. A youth novel.
I am clearly insane.
It seems to have been a good choice, though. It's coming along. I have twice as much of it as I had of my last attempt.
Word Count: 3,362
Percentage of goal: 6.7%
Percentage of month past: 9%
Not far off the pace. I'll need to catch up tonight / this weekend, though.

Date: 2004-11-06 02:11 pm (UTC)In short, you've got Varn, your main character. He believes himself to be a lizard-Shifter, but in fact he's the song of the Dragon God of the Sea. The old Gods are rising and preparing for a war that happens roughly once every 1000 human generations. This war sets the world back to a default state, and life begins again. Naturally, Varn isn't too happy about this prospect.
I think Varn's father was trying to sire a bunch of kids in order to have them survive the war, but something went wonky, and Varn was one of the few to survive.
In addition to that, a sort of 'government' (known of the Officials) conspiracy has set in, that knows about the rising Gods, and wants to put an end to them in order to prevent the war and to keep the place of humans at the top of the ladder.
Originally, all I knew about this story was that Varn was the son of a God. Funny how everything just keeps expanding, huh?
