I've been stumped by "Splintered Soul" for too long. The setting and situation was intimidating me to the point of my not being able to write it.

Luckily, I've had a brainchild about a different direction I could approach it from, and possibly take it in. So I'm going to scrap what I have and start over, re-using what I can.

If I don't edit this entry in the next 7 1/2 hours saying that I've finished it, please beat me.

Edit: Okay, beat me. I didn't get it done. BUT! But. I *did* write. In trying to start again with a new direction, I wound up having some insights as to how to approach it from the *original* direction and then incorporate the meat of my brainchild into a scene to break up and move along the Evil Dialogue Scene of Doom.

I'm still not promising that it won't suck, but at least it's currently sitting at a level of finishable. And I hold to my promise of getting it finished within the week. That is, before I go back to work on Wednesday night. So mote it be.

I need to get off my butt and write The Song's Shadow. Man, I'm looking forward to that one. Except that it'll likely be very long . . .

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and try to write some of it at work. Heavy call volume be damned.

Long is good! Friggin' "Splintered Soul" is currently sitting at 1,400 words, and it's only just getting going. It's probably going to be at LEAST 3,000 by the time I finish, but more likely somewhere around 5,000. I want to stab out my eyes with a rusty spoon. In the best possible way.
