Edit The Crap Out Mah Novel Week - Day One

Success! Narrowly avoided the procrastination blues today. I'm at the stage where I'm mostly having to cut, rather than re-write, so the editing is going fairly swiftly. I got Chapter 5 down from 3,100 words to 1,600 words. That seems to be about par for the course for this story, and leaves me in a decent range for the market I'm aiming for, I think. Need to look into that.

Also got Chapter 6 ready to be edited and made my notes as to where I want to go with it. This is where the editing is going to get sticky - until now, a solid hour was all I needed for each chapter. I think that's going to double and triple as I go. That's fine - I'm just going to take it an hour at a time, for now.

Besides, I'm not editing War and Peace, here. I'm editing a SF Adventure novel for kids, and this is only the second draft. What I finish with won't be publishable, but it WILL be a heck of a lot closer.

Hey. :) I just somehow clicked my way to your writing journal, and it's so interesting... and, to be honest, totally jealousy-inducing. You're editing your novel! You have actually written a novel! I did reach 55,000 in NaNoWriMo, but I didn't finish the novel. I wish I had as much discipline as you.

Howdy! Don't be jealous yet - I still have so, sooo much work to do on this thing. Hopefully I'll get a bit of it done tonight, if it's slow at work.

And I have about 800% more work to do on the novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo LAST year... Sigh.

Okay, enough commenting, time to get back on the editing. :-) Want me to add you as a friend to this journal (if I haven't already?)

As for me, I've got 1000% more work to do on my NaNoWriMo novel. :D I'd wanted to make sure I'd reach 50k with what I had, and it turns out I overdid it a little.

I'd love for you to add me as a friend, but not now... I'm waiting for the Crimsonata thing to settle down first (re: the latest entry), and for members to comment opinions before I can officially launch my master plans without shocking anyone. :)
